Hi there, I am just getting started in Affiliate Marketing with my first site and just signed up to Adsense. But I'm confused as to what to put as my "Alternate URL" for the Adsense code.

Do I need to create an HTML page of my own ads? How do I know if the default sites that I want to promote with my HTML ad page have Adsense accounts....do I even get paid for these clicks?

Thanks!

Peter.

I believe you would only use the alternate if you don't want public service announcement ads appearing on your site. And to my knowledge, the PSAs only appear if Google can't figure out the theme of your page enough to serve up relevant ads, or if your theme is so far-off-the-beaten-track that there are fewer ads to place on that page than you've requested.

Personally, I like the idea of being able to help nonprofit and humanitarian organisations out this way. I've even wished Google had an option that would serve up a certain percentage of PSAs on purpose. I would participate in that. To my knowledge, it doesn't.

I've never tinkered with the alternate URLs or colours, though, so I'm not sure how they work. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that for you. I just thought I'd point out why it's used (it's optional) and the fact that, if/when it would resort to that (infrequent, if ever, if your page theme is clear), you might want to consider letting Google put in a PSA anyway. Smile

Yes, now I see...thanks. At first every ad was a PSA. But now that are displaying properly after a couple of days.

Not a bad notion to leave the PSA's Wink...I will do it too.

Thanks for the response.
