I would start by emailing the person and kindly explaining that your articles are copyrighted material and that you do not wish to have them posted on their site, and to please take them down immediately. Who knows, maybe they figure anything that's free is up for grabs and just need to be set straight. Well, you never know... LOL
If you don't get anywhere, I would see about tracking down the guy's webhost and having a talk with them. Maybe through WhoIs? I have no experience with this kind of thing, so I'm just guessing here. I hope others with more experience can offer a solid solution for you. Or maybe there is an internet legal agency that can advise you. Good luck.

When it has happened to me I've used different tactics, depending on my mood at the time.
1. Contact the website's web host, show the web host that the wayback machine shows the articles were on your site long before the thief created his/her site. Demand that the web host take action against the copyright thief and shut down the site. This can work. Web hosts generally don't like thieves and may take a site down in blatant cases. I've achieved this.
2. Contact the thief, explain that the articles are copyright and demand that they be removed. This can work.
3. Same as above, but say you'll take legal action if the articles are not removed within 48 hours. I've had good success doing this.
4. Rubbish the thief somewhere publicly. I've done this in my newsletter. Boy, it felt good! Readers can join in the fun and contact the thief and/or the thief's web host.
5. If the articles are on a blog which allows comments, add a comment saying the articles were stolen from your site. That one's fun!
6. Just sigh and ignore it.
7. Contact the webmaster, politely thank him/her for publishing the articles, point out that they're copyright, and ask the webmaster to add a link on each one back to your site. Not as much fun, but it can work well, too.
Figure out for yourself which one best suits your mood. _________________ Allan Gardyne

actually I had distributed couple of my articles.. so I was trying t find out ppl who are using those articles. I found the site and he didn't gave me link.. well.. Well I wasn't much pissed on this... but I started searching on his site and stumbled upon a article which looked like mine... Yup it was mine . I can spot my articles easily cuz of my writing style.
First thing I don't care much about grammer
2nd thing is I have a habit of using some cliche words/phrases which you find in articles standing out...
3rd thing is whenever I write article I write in very day to day conversational tone or like I am explaining someone.
one of my stolen article

Are Low Carb Diets Safe?
These are the kind of diets which was made popular by Dr. Robert Atkins.
Today this is one of the biggest Fad on Diet Market.
Low carb diets are based on the theory that restricting the amount of carbohydrates you eat will cause your body to burn fat to obtain the energy it needs.
Let's discus some of its implications on health
Are Low Carb Diets Safe?
There is much debate over the long-term effects of low carb diets on your health. This is because while they restrict consumption of carbohydrates, they allow generous consumption of protein and fat. And excessive consumption of fat, as we all know, has been associated with heart disease and many other maladies.
Another thing I noticed with Low carb diet is reducing stamina. Listen Carb are like instant source for fuel for your body. if you are going to follow low carb diets. It would be natural if you have any dizziness or feel out of strength.
You can loose weight Quite fast on these diets but these are diets that cannot be related as Good Lifestyle Diets. The moment you quit these Diets, You'll gain the weight you've lost.
This is one of the reasons I always advice people to stay off these diets. You should follow simple eating habits and Exercises which in long turn will help you in Loosing Weight and Keeping Fit. |
I'll try and check with the webhost..

I just noticed one thing I made spelling mistakes too in this article.. He copied as it is...
anyways
1. I've decided it to talk to the webmaster otherwise I'll ask the web host.
2. I'll make these articles publicly avaliable on Free articles Directory. I was thing of giving away more articles and this guy just helped me in finding it.

Here's another thought. Save the web pages in question using IE/Windows new "Web Archive" file (*.mht), so that you'll have evidence that the pages really were there. Maybe save a copy of View-Source too. It's not irrefutable evidence, but it's something, and not many people would go to the trouble of creating false evidence for something like this. Just in case s/he decides to change them later, to try to make them look like theirs.
Good luck! Let us know how you made out, Varun.

Just in case anyone doesn't know...
A simple way to find out if people have stolen the content from a particular page is to use http://www.copyscape.com/
Just type in the URL of the page and Copyscape will show you other sites that are repeating your phrases. It's scary how many thieves there are out there. _________________ Allan Gardyne

I wouldn't bother with that. It will probably annoy more people than anything.
There are many ways to still get your source code or copy content regardless if the right-click is disabled. _________________ Robert

I have done this on most of my pages. I've heard mixed reviews about doing this though.
On one hand, it's not a guarantee -- if someone wants to steal your stuff badly enough, they'll find a way. On the other hand, it makes it harder for them and sends a clear message that you don't want your stuff taken. One one hand again, it can annoy people (who use right-click for legitimate purposes) to the point where they might just leave your site and not come back. On the other hand, it might be worth it to lose a few legitimate people than to lose your content to someone who might otherwise be stopped by disabling the right-click.
It seems to be a tossup. I have quietly disabled the right-click. It doesn't come up with a box in your face explaining that you've disabled it; it simply doesn't produce the right-click menu. Unfortunately, it also disables the WHOLE right-click menu, which even I find annoying. For example, I can't use the AdSense Preview Tool for a page that's been disabled.
It's been an experiment, since I discovered someone copy-and-pasting entire articles of mine to various message boards, despite every page's footer saying please contact me if you want to use my material for any reason. I suppose I should be flattered that they liked my material that much, and they *did* provide a link to my site (which is more than some would do, I guess), but I was really annoyed at the cheek and blatant disregard of the boundary I had set about it.
I wish there was a way to have the first right-click on a page show a message that says "Please don't copy my stuff, contact me if you want to use it," and then lets the right-click menu come up on subsequent clicks. I've never heard of a way to do that though. But it might be a better way to deal with copiers, since not everyone reads web page footers (with copyright information on them) and not everyone wants to copy it for their own profit.
The bottom line is: there's no way to guarantee your stuff won't get stolen, whether by someone acting as a blatant thief or by someone who just disregards your boundaries with "good intentions." That means there's always a tossup as to which solution you want to use -- there will be advantages and disadvantages, and you just have to "pick your poison" so to speak.

Yeah, I've never done it because I want people to be able to for those legit reasons, and I know there are ways around it - but I wondered if anyone had experienced significant decrease in copying after doing so... right now it's not worth it to me, but I haven't had a big problem with this, either. _________________ my affiliate marketing blog

| If you look at the other articles on his site, they two have duplicate copies from other site, not only yours. I would inform the other sites, and the talk directly to his hosting company. He'll probally disappear for a while and then crop up somewhere else, but at least he'll be gone for a little while... |
