Do you believe there is a need for a section on this board dedicated to HTML, CSS, and other design questions?
If there is a need for this topic - please respond
For me, it's hard to bounce around between the many 'methods' to find the Q&A on this - and these discussions (IMHO) do not have boundaries respecting the methods you're following (i.e. SiteBuildIt, Martell, DIY, etc).
Add your 2 cents if you agree this is a useful category for this board _________________ Andrea Thomson

I agree Andrea...
I would love to be able to lend a hand when people are looking for help with the development of their sites. But I really don't have a huge amount of time to go through all the posts each day. If there was a place that just discussed these issues I would be better able to help out. _________________ Lynne Robson

Hi Andy -
I think you're correct -that it's a very broad topic.
That's one of the reasons we're hoping to isolate it to a small dedicated section for people needing help. That way, the people (like myself, Lynn, Debs, etc.) can easily jump into one section to see where people are stuck.
The help I'm talking about isn't focused on any particular teaching method of the affiliate 'guru's'... it's just how to implement it.
Does that agree with your point?
And would you see yourself being a helper or a helpee
Appreciate you jumping in !
cheers - good weekend to you. _________________ Andrea Thomson

I agree...
This forum was set up as a place for marketers to get help, inspiration and information about affiliate marketing.
But as I see it, building and developing your site is a large part of that...several of the posts I see are from newbies, that are just getting started in this...
As a rule, people like to stay within a group of people they know...and while there are several great forums out there that deal specifically with web development, people that work on affiliate site are coming to this forum for help and encouragement.
I think what Andrea and myself are suggesting is a section that will allow those people to seek out help and encouragement from knowledgeable people in web development while at the same time staying within the group and getting encouragement for their affiliate issues as well.
And however broad the web development topic may be in normal circumstance, I have noticed that affiliate site builders tends to stay within a relatively small niche.
templates and software...Finding the right template, and finding the best software to suit their needs. For example...I am a FrontPage developer...and I feel comfortable helping people with FrontPage issues, I know that Andrea is a great DreamWeaver developer...There are others on the board that work with site build it, and other editors and web builders.
I think what we are suggesting is to allow us to help when needed in the areas that we know best. It also allows these posts and questions to be "removed" from the sections that they really don't fit in and allow those with the affiliate smarts to help out where they are best suited.
Just my penny and a 1/2 _________________ Lynne Robson

We have a Do-it-yourself section
http://www.associateprograms.com/discus/forum21.html
for discussing HTML stuff etc.
That seems to me to be the appropriate place to discuss HTML and CSS.
At this stage, it's only three pages long, so there's not a huge interest in it.
New topics float straight to the top of the heap. If people word their subject lines carefully (most do) it's easy to scan the topics and look for new questions or questions that involve CSS or whatever.
We don't see much discussion of CSS in that section, so I'm not sure why we would need a new section on CSS and HTML.

IMO, that's WAY to narrow of a topic to dedicate an entire forum section to it. _________________ Robert

fair enough
Perhaps I've misunderstood the IA hierarchy of the forum.
The section on Web Site Creation & Maintenance (I thought) covered more about the methods one is following. Whether one is following the methods of SBI, Martell, or a DIY "method".
As it turns out, the SBI person submits their HTML questions to the SBI section, the Martell person submits to the Martell section...
Does what I'm suggesting make more sense now?
If the DIY section is the designated HTML questions area, I will frequent this area more in future.
Allan suggested asking the group if this specific section was needed... hence the poll. Okay by me if it's not needed. We thought an isolated design section would help the group.
But if it's not broken.... _________________ Andrea Thomson
