I agree with Jeff. Not only does that keep people on your site, but it keeps you in control of what your visitors see. This may seem overly controlling; but if you drop an affiliate program, or the program disappears overnight, or you want to focus on the most relevant points of a program, directing your visitors to your own page first, which you can change whenever you want, makes sense. You don't want them seeing 500 or 404 pages... _________________ Chocolate makes you a better affiliate marketer.

Great post, Anton!
I've never ever in my life used a printable version or print icon on a webpage. This stopped me from setting up printable pages on my sites. Do you guys think this could be real help for a promotion? _________________ Jim Belay

Just test, how long visitors are staying on a website, before they click away. You can change something and then test again. If they stay longer, you keep that version. Then you change another thing and test again... _________________ Just COPY the system from Ewen Chia. http://www.AffiliateKickstart.com
Capture their email!
Give them something so valuable to them, that they opt-in to your email list.
This way you can go to them...with your offers..rather than trying to keep them on your website.
It's not the amount of time that you keep people on your website that is important...it is the relationship you build with them so that they want to do business with you.
If you can get access to them
(e.g. through their email address)
then you can remind them of your website over and over again ...this builds long term
customers that trust you because you have offered value to them first.
If they trust you, they will buy from you rather than others ...if they buy from you and they are happy, they will tell their friends about you.
In this way , you build up a good relationship and both you and your customers will be happier for it. _________________ For enlightened ,unbiased ,honest, reviews of hundreds of internet marketing products by consumers who have actually used them : www.ratingshub.com/invite/nbjjco.html
