Hosting Service tips for affiliates
by Heather Paulson
The most important thing to consider when working with a web host provider is simple yet for some reason the practicality and simplicity of this one thing to consider escapes many affiliates.
?Your host service company should have a phone number displayed on their website?
It would be a benefit as well if they actually answered the phone. Nothing is more important to the affiliate?s success online then ?WHO? their hosting service provider is. Affiliates have multiple site hosting requirements, I have one affiliate that has over 5,000 websites and his hosting company had better answer that phone!
I can not stress enough to get a hosting account that has some type of statistical analysis program, what are you doing if you do not know your traffic and traffic pattern statistics? This game is about the numbers and your host provider should supply you excellent customer service, great price for their service, and a statistics program.
Affiliate Hosting Must Haves
1) Host company must have a phone number that is answered by a human available on their web site.
2) Host company should offer some sort of statistics package, if you can not gauge your marketing efforts what are you doing?
3) Host company should offer multiple language hosting both dedicated and shared as well as technical assistance in CGI and other programming for multiple ability levels.
I recommend www.HostmySite.com. Why? Call the number and listen to the splendiferous voice of a ?Human being?!

I second your opinion about phone numbers and being able to reach a real person at your hosting company.
I use four different hosting companies because I have more than 40 sites. In this way I can also evaluate which hosting service is the best. Unfortunately, the one I've been with the longest and gets the most traffic has the poorest service, and they don't take care of their long-term customers. One of my oldest sites is on an old webserver with them and I'm paying about 3x what I would be paying if I was one of their new customers. Moving my website would be an enourmous task, but you better believe that when I find the time or find someone reliable|honest to outsource the task to, I'll be down to only three different hosting companys. Sad, but true. |
