Hi people,
I am new to this forum and VERY new to web building so i am asking a probably silly question but here goes.
I have d/loaded a free website template (Frontpage) and cannot change the wording.
Homepage has the name of designer, want it to be my website name.
Also the buttons show text on mouseover but not the text i want is there a way to change this?
I really hope someone can help as i love the templates and wish to use them to get my first websites up and running.
Thanx

The graphics would need to be changed via a graphics editor, not FP; check with the designer to see if the graphics files are available for editing.
The text parts, you would need to locate within the html or associated files (javascript ... js ... files, css, etc.) and change out the unwanted text for the wanted text.

I got this as well but when I opened the images I found the layers were merged and the text couldn't be edited. I got frustrated and just put it to the side. Luckily it was a free template. This is actually what keeps me from paying for one. I don't want to get it and not be able to make it work. _________________ Dave

I've used free and fee templates a lot; never had a problem with fee templates that couldn't be fixed with an email to the seller

When you purchase a template from someone, make sure that you can edit the graphics, or that they will do the custom graphics for you. I have purchased two custom templates so far, and working on a third now with the developer. Nothing but happy from them.
PM me if you want the links to the two places I recommend. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Hi,
Sorry i've taken so long to reply i had to track down the link.
I have given you the link to d/load the free template. Not sure if this is what you wanted but it was all i could think of.
My problems with this template are that i have now inported it into frontpage but in the left hand column i click Navigation and only one page shows up as i just recreated pages and saved with differant names. So the (Home page) shows up with the title free web template but nothing else.
2nd in left column of Frontpage i click Hyperlinks and there are about 4 links i don't want there. I have deleted them in the normal view manually but they still show up.
and 3rd i want to edit the buttons to have heading on each but can't do in an editor, not sure how and type straight on top looks silly.
Any help would be appreciated thanks. |

Sorry! I had a blonde moment here's the link.
http://www.layouts4free.com/download2.php?id=39&t=tor http://www.layouts4free.com/template.php?id=6&start=192 and it's the second down on right.
I have dreamweaver but haven't used much yet Frontpage seemed easier. I'll give it a try for my next site as this one's lookin good. Thanks for the tip.

Well I messed around with it a little. Still not sure what you are having trouble with specifically. Try Fireworks to edit the button images.
Dreamweaver is pretty easy to use, really (at least the old version I have is. Don't know if the newer ones still are) and they write clean code, no server extensions needed. _________________ ~neodemes~

Thanks, I'll try that all i'm waiting for now is a bit more content and the button.
Thanks for having a look anyway. Iam trying to delete some links that show up in the hyperlink view from the left menu. Everything else seems ok now. Onto adding in keywords. |

If it's not too much trouble could someone please check it out and give me some pointers...I do plan on adding articles or a newsletter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. _________________ Thanx much,

ampalmer55, If you post your request for a site review in the site review section, you're more likely to receive a reply. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Hey am,
Well, you already seem to understand the concern about link farms. That's easy enough to avoid.
One thing I noticed is you have something a bit out of whack with the top right side of your table layout on some of your pages, at least in my browser. Anyone else see it?
am, what exactly is it that you would like help with?

Thanx AG...I noticed the other section AFTER I had already posted here.
I did not want to double post....sorry, my mistake!
Neo, thanx for checking it out. I don't understand what you mean by out of whack? Uneven?
I guess I am asking what changes would you make to make it more appealing to visitors?
Would you say it is too plain? boring? not enough content?
My budget right now is zip..so I have been checking and double checking the net for "free" stuff to use to get it going (ie articles, that I can post on my site and offer as part of my newsletter or free ebooks that I can offer) those kind of things.
Most of my site is constructed with "free trial" tools as I can't afford to buy THEN find out that it doesn't work for me........
BTW...this is a GREAT forum. I have found it to be most informative! _________________ Thanx much,
