2 Amateur Racers Die in Crash at Speedway
The La Jolla men were driving the course during a club day at the Fontana racetrack.

Two San Diego County men died when the Porsche they were racing crashed and caught fire Thursday morning at California Speedway in Fontana, authorities said.
Benjamin Miles Keaton, 39, and his passenger, Corey Nicholas Rudl, 34, both of La Jolla, died from injuries after Keaton lost control of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.
The car left the track, careened onto a grassy area and struck a barrier. The engine compartment then caught fire, according to a San Bernardino County sheriff's report.
On-site medical personnel, the same used for NASCAR and Indy Racing League events at the speedway, responded at 10:40 a.m. and quickly extinguished the fire, sheriff's officials said.
Rudl, who worked in Internet marketing, was pronounced dead at the scene; Keaton was airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital, where he died about an hour later, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.
Both suffered multiple traumatic injuries, but neither suffered burns, said Supervising Deputy Coroner Randy Emon. The vehicle made a passenger-side impact at more than 100 mph. Both men were wearing helmets and safety belts, authorities said.
"The driver's side was in good shape, but the passenger side was obliterated," Emon said.
The accident occurred while the track was being rented by the San Diego chapter of the Ferrari Owners Club. Such events are common at the speedway; the facility is in use nearly 300 days a year for a variety of events, including track days by auto clubs and driving schools.
The men are the fourth and fifth fatalities at California Speedway since it opened in 1997.
Champ Car driver Greg Moore was killed during a race in 1999, and Ricky Lundgren died during competition at an AMA Superbike event in 2003. Another motorcyclist died during a track rental in September.

Yes, indeed. This was shocking news.
His was one of the first affiliate programs

I find it interesting that when someone dies everyone says how sad it is.
It would seem that to come to that conclusion we have to assume that being dead is worse than being alive.
Do we have any evidence at all to base this assumption on?
Until we have some evidence, why not assume the best?
Baby's come in to this ruthless world bloody and screaming, and we celebrate that event.
There is an intuitive common sense feeling to the idea that when our body is destroyed, everything is over.
But there's also an intuitive common sense feeling to the notion that the Earth is flat. Just look around, it's flat in every direction, we can see it with our own eyes. What could be more obvious and beyond debate?
Except our eyes are wrong.
When we get more perspective, we can see the Earth is round.
Maybe Cory's transition is a vehicle for bringing some of that perspective to us all.
Obviously I don't know, but for now I prefer to think of Cory as having lept in to an adventure beyond our imaginations.

I couldn't agree more. I believe death is worse for those left behind then those who have died.

This has made me think. Maybe in addition to the standard will we write to leave things to our loved ones, we should also include instructions on transferring our online incomes.
Changing google adsense ads to a new owner. Ppdating affiliate profiles to reflect a new owner. To us, it may seem a simple matter but to someone who doesn't know much about intenet markets and affilitate income it could be overwhelming on top of our death.
Since these incomes will be ongoing for some time beyond our demise, it would be nice to be able to easily transfer those incomes where we wish them to go.

I don't think dieing is the sad part, it's the fact that you wont' be able to talk to him face to face, read his personal e-mails or listen to his awesome speeches at several seminars.
I believe he's somewhere are minds can't fathom and it's a better place then earth. At least...I hope he went up...rather then down.

All true, and regrettable, no doubt.
But, given how much bigger this subject is than me, I'm not going to jump to the assumption that because someone is "gone" that all communication stops.
Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. All I'm clear on is that I don't know, so keeping my mind open seems sensible.
This will surprise few here, but my mind blabs along to itself, and any victims within range, all day long everyday. Blah, blah, blah etc. It's around the clock mental racket.
Maybe if I shut up once in awhile, and focused on listening instead of thinking, I might tune in to frequencies I normally miss out on.
Who knows. Not me.
I will say that so long as I don't come to final conclusions on topics I really know nothing about, then life remains a big wonderous mystery, and that's agreeable here.

This is really tragic and it is still hard to absorb.

Having looked at this news all of a sudden, it makes me think: what is going to happen next if I were to go?
Being Internet Business Owners ourselves, a big number of us are either one-man-business owners or in a partnership with others we trust. We probably depend on online business as the main source of income therefore being the breadwinners for our family. And suddenly one day, we go without notice.
I know it can be an uncomfortable question to ask, but since we are still alive and we can still ammend, how are you going to do to ensure your loved ones especially if most of them are very dependent on you?
