Just as an aside, why would anyone want to hide the "Ads from Google" declaration?

I thought the very fact that these ads were being portrayed as "Google results" in some way, enhanced the credibility and increased the click through rate.

Isn't the Google brand the part that's most important here?

Just a thought,
Charlie.

Well, it's always good to have something to strive for you know Wink

To sum up the answer to the original question: Hiding the "Ads from Google" is definitely not something Google is happy about, but as long as you use the code you get from them without modifications it's their problem.

Now, another interesting question:

I've been thinking along the same lines myself. Of course, the reason you'd want to hide it is to get rid of a non-paying link on the pages, but as Charlie says, there are definitly advantages to keeping it there too.
Google has a very high credibility among websurfers, and it doesn't hurt a site to be visibly associated with them.

I believe another reason some people want to hide it because they believe less people will click since it says Ads by Google. They think the labeling of ads will reduce clickthroughs.

I don't think they are correct, but I don't know anyone who's tested this.

Hi All,

This discussion is void now, the "Ads by Google" text is no longer hidden when you use a white border color. Google must've noticed and corrected their mistake...

Regards,

Erwin.
