Hi there - I have two domains so far, and would like to get a few more out there, later in the year. So far, I have my web hosting space with GoDaddy. They just informed me that my second domain would have to go into a second hosting account. This looks like it could be a major expense. Is there anywhere out there that will let you put multiple domains into one web hosting account ? If anyone knows of a reasonable place, I sure would be interested.

I personally use Website Source, for a bit less than $7 a month on a prepay, you get hosting for up to 4 domains, and unlimited subdomains. I haven't noticed any downtime on any of my domains, so I have no hesitancy recommending them highly.
I've also found the service to be very good, unlike some cheap hosting providers, I've been able to get phone help through a toll free number.

Tara, thanx for the "indirect link". I am tossing around the idea of going with a dedicated host, or switching to something that has more bandwidth and allows multiple domains. That URL you gave looks pretty good.

Affiliate links are a no-no in the content of a message here. In your sig is fine, but unless your trying to promote that resource, why waste the space?
I was being serious. I was just doing some "tongue-in-cheek" about how you promoted the link. 
Yes, dedicated hosting is having your own server. That means you are the only one on that server, so you don't share processor time with anyone. It allows you more customizations, but at a much higher cost. Cheap dedicated hosting starts at about $50 a month, and most runs about $170 a month for the entry-level packages.
For now, I still am under a "free" account (a promo account, which still has just over a year and a half left). Once that is gone (or a hit my bandwidth cap) I need to find someone new. Depending on what I am earning at that time, I may go dedicated. *shrug* we will see!

Hi there,
The hosting company I use allows me to host 75 subdomains (something.mydomain.com) and 15 full domains. I also have about 7000 MB of disk space. This may be a bit more than you were looking for, but they also offer smaller packages as well.
Incidentally, they also give away a free domain name registration with all new accounts and they will renew it for you for free each year you are a member.

LOL. Well, Tara, I will be ready to sign up for another hosting company soon, so yours is next on the list (and I'll definitely go to your blog for the link  ).
I'm in the process of signing up for Site5 right now, to replace a new host I was using - I basically cancelled that account before I even put anything up. The first thing I did when I got that account (the one I just cancelled) was to set up my email. Well, believe it or not, I started getting spam from that email almost immediately! The site wasn't even live. And then I started having trouble accessing the email, as well - my connection kept timing out. I thought it was a good sign to just say bye to the first month's payment and find another host 
Site5 is pretty good (another friend recommended it), but not as cheap as Tara's host. My other host is Dreamhost, and they're absolutely wonderful, but on the pricier side. I bought in during their Christmas sale so am locked into a pretty good rate, luckily.

Try 1and1.com. I can have as many domains as I can fit without exceeding storage and bandwidth. Of course you have to pay $5.99 for each domain registration.

I've just signed up with sonataweb.net with a 30 domain reseller account.
Areseller acc gives you a full cpanel account for each site.
Very inexpensive and great support so far.

Hello all! I'm in the process of choosing a webhost, and emaxhosting looks very nice for my needs, esp the budget plan of 5.95/mo.
I just would like to ask Tara if the budget plan does really come with unlimited "Add-on Domain"? It means I can have as many .com in my account right? I am just wondering if it is the same as the Dreamhost CrazyInsane plan of 3 "full domains". Just trying to understand the terms right.

hello everyone - It looks like its time to update on this topic. I ended up going with E-max myself, but I'm sorry that I did. I have a site that has been on the net since around the end of May beginning of June, and the e-mail for that site is not working and I don't expect it will until I switch to another host.
For the time being I have given up on getting it working, which is pretty sad. I have e-mail at my v-store, my other web site, and at home, which all work fine. E-max is blaming my IP. My IP says that since all these other boxes work, the problem lies with e-max. My IP doesn't really want to do anything because its e-max's account. Their view is that since everything else works, e-max has configured something incorrectly.
I know that the story that e-max gave me was quickly proven to be bull. Their argument was that my antivirus program is interfering with the e-mail on my new site. The only problem is, it makes no difference even if it is disabled. In all fairness to e-max, they probably would help me further with this problem, but I don't care for the attitude that comes with it.
This might just be me, but I find the tutorials that e-max uses to be riddled with errors and inaccurracies. If you e-mail them to ask about it, they dance around your question, and whatever the problem is, is your fault, and you better be able to figure it out yourself, because all you're going to get is smart ass answers.
Also, at the time I signed up (1 1/2 months ago), I was told I would get a free domain name thrown in. I didn't have time to decide on one at the time, so I didn't take it when I signed up. Now they're saying nix on the new domain name. They're saying this was in effect many months ago, but not now. I'm sorry if I've hurt anyone's feelings here, but everything I'm telling you is totally true, and I cannot sit here and pretend that e-max is a good web host. I actually can't wait to get my account out of there. TT

Hi, learn2earn, yes it does, though the crazy insane plan from Dreamhost is incredible - I can't in good conscience recommend a more expensive plan from eMax. Go with the Dreamhost plan - 1 free domain plus 1 year of hosting for $9.24 is amazing. That plan though only allows 3 domains. Still a great deal. Heck, I got one myself just for diversification purposes.

Wow Terry, I'm really sorry you're having such a hard time and that you're going to leave. When I recommend eMax (which I still do) I do mention that I "personally" have had no problems that couldn't be solved by them. If and when I do, I'll stop recommending them. And of course, no feelings hurt, heck, it's not my company  I just thought it would be nice to be paid for recommending a company that works wonderfully for me.
That said, just out of curiousity, have you talked to the owner, Chris? There are 2 Chris' there, one is Chris Cook (who I haven't had the best experience dealing with at times - till we put our cards on the table, then everything was fine) and the other Chris is the owner. Whenever I've dealt with the owner I was treated with the utmost respect and courtesy and the problem was solved.
Either way, please know that it wasn't done maliciously as I still gladly use eMax.

Tara thanks for your reply. At first I was leaning towards emax because they don't charge setup fees and dreamhost do for the monthly payment plans. But after reading BJ & your posts again, I realized that the promo $9.24 is for the WHOLE year & not monthly payments! I think this really value for money.
Just would like to understand the free domain.

This is even more fantastic! But lets say I change host later on, how much would they charge for the domain annual fee that I've registered with them? And, would it be easy to change to other registrar as well?
Another question (sorry!) If i already have a domain and transfer it to them when buying a hosting plan, would I be entitled to the free renewals?
