Just wanted a bit of advice on how to promote my Affiliate program. I have gone the route of Befree and also Clickxchange but I would like to be able to do a bit more on my own. How can I get the promotion done manually and for free. I have spent enough already! Just need advice please!!!

Katie, without knowing what you are promoting, I am not sure this will help you or not.

Have you considered

1. Joint Venture to promote your product and AP

2. Advertising (not exactly free in most cases) in newsletters

3. Providing your product for review by relevant reviewers.

4. Press Release announcing your AP.

5. Posting your AP in affiliate directories such as AssociatePrograms.com

Portions of the above may overlap each other. You may wonder how this helps to promote your affiliate program, as opposed to your product.

Again, without knowing what your product is, you have to take what I suggest and see if it applies to your situation.

1. If you JV with someone who also has their own affiliate program, they can promote your AP through their affiliate list, giving it more exposure.

2. Advertising in affiliate newsletters, even though they may be about "internet marketing" can expose your product and AP to those who are promoting a variety of products, not just IM products.

3. When you provide your product for review, it's customary to give stats and requirements relating to the product, of which you can mention your affiliate program. You may want to consider this especially for sites that review affiliate programs, and the products they promote.

4. A press release, while no guarantee that it would be used, would be a free avenue to garner interest in your AP.

5. There are a variety of AP directories out there, none as good as Allan's of course Smile ... but you can get your AP listed easily, and in most cases, free.

Here is the submit page for Allan's directory:

Hope this helps,
Debs

I think Debs made some excellent suggestions.

Just one thing to add...

This is a good point.

Many "big names" quietly subscribe to Allan's newsletter. Many of these are active in areas other than IM. Obviously, I've no idea whether they read the ads, but if you could get any of these on board, it would probably be very lucrative.

Just make sure your adds stand out, but avoid hype (a difficult balance) if you want to reach this sort of affiliate.

Hope this helps,
Charlie.

Katie,

Looks like you have your work cut out for you following all the good advice from Debs and Charlie. I recently launched an affiliate program for my company (you can check it out at http://www.depositit.com/reseller.shtml and have had great success in using the telephone and e-mail!

Simply contacting synergistic companies and offering them the opportunity to add an additional revenue stream has been really productive. It can be hard work and is quite long winded, but I'm finding most companies to be receptive and have signed up a lot of affiliates this way (some VERY big ones too).

In addition, we've had a lot of sign ups as a result of our 2 tier program. One affiliate in particular signed up 12 additional affiliates within a week Laughing

If you have a good product and your AP is incentivising, JV's will be welcomed - at least that's what I am finding.

In addition, I would also suggest all the other mechanisms highlighted above.

Hope this helps,

good luck

rybo
