|
|
Hi all,
I'd like to start a blog related to the topic on my site, but I'm not sure where it would best be located in order to increase traffic to my site. Should I create the blog 'in-site', or run a separate blog on a site such as blogger, with links back to my site? I could see benefits to both, but being pretty new to the blogging scene (at least as a publisher) I thought I'd pick the brains of those more in the know
Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,

In my opinion place it outside your website, and under a different domain name. That would be better. _________________ www.webmastermagazine.net

Why would that be better? By putting your blog as part of your site, you can drag in a lot of traffic via blog rolls and pinging and such. Why put that on another site. Just make it a sub-domain or a sub-folder of your site. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

All of my site-related blogs except one are in a subfolder on their main sites. I know when I initially set up that one blog that's outside of its related website (got its own domain name and everything), I worried like crazy about cross-linking between the two sites. I don't worry about it anymore , but now I just put all of my new site-related blogs in with their main sites these days. Like Eric, I find it works well in terms of increasing traffic to the main site.
