Here is a little information to get you started. I'll expand on this in later days.

Competition

This simple little tool works on the assumption that if others are targeting specific keywords with some impact, they will have the keyword phrase in the Title, URL or Anchor Text on their pages.

So if they are included, then you'll need to work harder to out optimize them.

I normally like to use the AllInURL as the most simple and quick way of assessing this.

You can try the other variation as well. For some reason Google doesn't always report correct results when you run more than one checkbox at once.

Yahoo! however does work correctly, however you can't use AllInURl, you can only us InURL.

When you press submit, take a look at the number of competing pages for that keyword phrase on the search results.

AllInTitle:

Google will restrict the results to those with all of the query words in the title. For instance, [allintitle: google search] will return only documents that have both "google" and "search" in the title.

InTitle:

Google will restrict the results to documents containing that word in the title. For instance, [intitle:google search] will return documents that mention the word "google" in their title, and mention the word "search" anywhere in the document (title or no).

AllInURL:

Google will restrict the results to those with all of the query words in the url. For instance, [allinurl: google search] will return only documents that have both "google" and "search" in the url.

InURL:

If you include [inurl:] in your query, Google will restrict the results to documents containing that word in the url. For instance, [inurl:google search] will return documents that mention the word "google" in their url, and mention the word "search" anywhere in the document (url or no). Note there can be no space between the "inurl:" and the following word.

InAnchor:

Syntax to search only the anchor text of Web pages. AllInAnchor will only return results with all keywords in the anchor text. Results are listed based on the text used in the backlinks or outside links pointing to the page.

InAnchor:

Syntax to search only the anchor text of Web pages. Results are listed based on the text used in the backlinks or outside links pointing to the page.

Backward Links

This will show the links that are pointing to a particular URL. Yahoo! is more accurate. As a rough rule, the more links pointing to a page, the harder it is to compete against.

Pages Indexed

This will show the pages of a site that is indexed by Google and Yahoo!

Find URL

This checks to see if a URL is indexed at all in Yahoo!
