It's nice to get positive little surprises isn't it?
This week I got one.

1) How to use an affiliate program as a link building tool
====================================
Earlier this week I was checking out rankings as I often do.
I noticed that one of our sites had made significant gains in Google.
I've been around for long enough to know that things like that don't just happen, so where did that SEO boost come from?
I started asking all the questions.
Have we got link builders working on it? Perhaps someone's been tweaking SEO? Was it the cache I'd recently installed? Did a competitor get penalized? No, no, no.
I soon tracked it down. It was none of the above.
About a month ago we added a few banners for our affiliates.
Turns out that because they've placed them on their sites, we've just picked up a truckload of quality new back links.
What I didn't realize was that ClickBank used a 301 redirection in their affiliate links, which means we get link juice.
Mike has just put up a blog post that gives the low down on this unexpected but welcomed link building strategy.
There are a few things to look out for if you want to make it work for you so be sure to get the scoop so that your links count.
Hopefully you'll be in for a pleasant surprise too.

2) The power of independent feedback
=========================
Have you ever asked yourself, what do my visitors really think about my site? Or, do they really 'get' the product offering?
It's so easy to fall into the trap of looking at it from our perspective, but not through the eyes of our potential customers.
I asked myself these questions recently and ended up test driving a service called "Feedback Army".
Basically, these guys commission a team of independent reviewers to review your site.
You'll quickly have solid feedback on what others do and don't like about it (unfortunately, most of our potential customers don't share this valuable info with us).
While I didn't agree with all of the comments I received, a couple proved to be valuable and alerted me to a few things I have since addressed.
It's a very simple process. You give them the URL of your site, provide them with your email address, select 10, 25 or 50 reviewers and the good news is it's very cheap.
So if you're into good, better, best, never let them rest, this service may help you to see your site through your customers' eyes. This may turn out to be an eye-opening experience for you!
