Seven easy ways to create bonuses
Last week I talked about adding special bonuses to your product offers to compel customers to act.
Remember, you need to give your customers a reason to buy from your affiliate link. Offering a free bonus provides just the right incentive your customers need to buy from your link.
After posting last week's article I received some questions from you about how to create bonuses quickly and easily. So, this week's article will focus on seven ways you can create great bonuses for your customers effortlessly.
Creating unique and original bonuses
Before talking about how to create bonuses, you must first understand an important point. For this strategy to be effective, for you to use bonuses effectively, you must offer bonuses that are UNIQUE and ORIGINAL.
Sure, you can offer someone else's products as a bonus. You can get resale rights for $50 for a bunch of ebooks. You can use some of the crappy ebooks you have rights to or what have you. But remember, these products are NOT unique. They aren't going to motivate your customers to buy from you.
Your customers can get them anywhere. You have to give your prospects a reason to click through your affiliate links.
You do this by creating unique and original bonuses. By offering this type of bonus, you create a high-perceived value for your customer.
If you offer what everyone else does, your customer will not care. Resale right products often do not create any perceived value to your list. You want to create the perception you are giving something valuable to your customer.
By doing so you up the ante. You make it irresistible for your customer to click through YOUR affiliate link and not your competitors. By offering original bonuses, your customer will jump head over heels with credit card in hand to buy from your link.
Ok now let’s look at the seven simple ways you can create these bonuses.
Strategy 1 - Use your own material
The first way to create great bonuses is by using your own material. Check out your own stock; look at your old material. Look for products you need to get rid of. Look for products that weren't selling well before but that will create a high-perceived value in your customer's mind. You should have an inventory of old material you can look through. Pick out a few items and include that material as part of your affiliate offer.
Let's say for example you have an old course you valued at $359. You can offer your home study course valued at $359 as a bonus for clicking through your link and buying the products you are promoting. So the first strategy is check your inventory and use own your products as a free bonus.
Strategy 2 - Create checklist or action step summary for the product
First, never promote something you do not understand. I assume before you promote a product you use it first, study it and understand it. If you do this you can easily create what I call an "action summary" or checklist providing your customers a brief step-by-step outline of the course or product you are promoting.
This is one of the best bonuses you can offer.
A checklist or summary is a simple synopsis anyone can use quickly and easily. Let's say you are promoting a course on how to become a super affiliate. It may contain 10 CDs and a manual. This is a lot of material for your customer.
Some people feel overwhelmed doing an entire course.
You can quickly and easily create a three-page checklist of the entire course for your customer. People like these, and you can create one in a couple of hours and off you go.
Strategy 3 - Interview with the experts
Everyone wants to hear what the experts have to say. An easy way to create a bonus is by providing an interview with the expert, the author of the course or product you are promoting. How do you do this?
Approach an author and tell him or her you want to promote their product to your list, and ask them for an exclusive interview as a great bonus. The author can cover any material not covered in the course. Or you may have questions about the course the author can answer. Put this all together and you have a simple and effective bonus with a high-perceived value for your customer.
Strategy 4 - Phone consultations and coaching
You can offer your own phone consultation time, one or two hours coaching if your prospects click through your affiliate link and buy if you are an expert on a subject. Let's say for example you are offering a copywriting course.
As a bonus you can offer a free website critique. Most people perceive this as a high value item, valuing the critique at hundreds of dollars. And here is a dark little secret you may not know. Most people won't even redeem this offer, even though it motivates them to buy through your affiliate link.
In fact, less than 5% redeem these offers. While they have a high-perceived value, most people don't take the time to use them. So that is a dark little secret you can use to work in your favor. Offer a phone consult or coaching as a free bonus.
Strategy 5 - Provide follow-up teleseminars
One way to create a quick easy bonus is by providing follow-up teleseminars to answer your customers' questions about their product or the course you sell them. This bonus is an extension of what they just bought. The teleseminar can provide material outside of what they bought. For people who reviewed the course, tell them you are offering a teleseminar as an extension of what they bought to answer their questions and cover some additional material not covered in the course. People again perceive this as a high value bonus item, and will click through your affiliate links to get it.
Strategy 6 - Go to Bookdepot.com and buy books as bonuses
One of the quickest ways to get a bonus is to buy a bunch of cheap and inexpensive (but valuable) books. You can buy 10, 20, 50 or 100 and give them free as a bonus. People always appreciate a bonus book, and you can get them at wholesale prices here. People again perceive this as a high value bonus, so they will feel motivated to click through your link. This strategy requires almost no effort on your part.
Strategy 7 - Put a special offer together for your clients
This one is interesting. See if you can put a deal together. If the author whose products you are promoting has multiple products, try to create a deal or special offer with him or her. You can usually encourage your customers to click through your affiliate links when you offer an exclusive deal with the author.
For example, I am putting a special offer together with Michel Fortin at his site, Successdoctor.com. I know Michael Fortin has a great list, so he has good negotiating power. ;-)
I am offering my Instant Web Profits System through his list, but also offering Million Dollar Internet Promotions as a FREE bonus to his list customers. This is a special offer I created to work with Michael's list.
The Million Dollar Internet Promotions retails for $697. So Michel's customers are getting $697 worth of real value, free. Now, I know this is a very high quality list. My point is, if you have a good quality product and negotiating power you can put together some special offers on products for YOUR list.
I am willing to create a special offer for Michel because he has a great list, a high quality list. I know people will buy. You can collaborate with someone to negotiate a good offer or use existing products for your list.
Think outside the box. Heck, tear it up!
The bottom line is you have to ask and see what happens. If you don’t ask, you won’t get. It is that simple. Don't be afraid to ask. What have you got to lose?
There you have it. Those are the seven ways you can put bonuses together fast and easily.
Try them, use one or all of them. I have tried them all and they all work.
