==============================================
1. HTML ezine has clean design, useful content
==============================================

Eldon Sarte's e-Factory makes an impressive job of publishing the free ezine NewsDesk in HTML format.

Just like the e-Factory site, the daily NewsDesk has a clear, uncluttered design.

The content is good, too.

In NewsDesk, Eldon, 32, who has worked with computers, magazines and other publishing ventures since the 1980s, gives his views on netpreneur resources, including downloadable software, CGI scripts, business how-to info and quick tips, and revenue sharing programs that work.

Day after day he comes up with practical advice on software programs he has tested, and occasionally offers sensible business tips. It's easy to tell that he has first-hand knowledge of his subjects.

For example, a recent edition carried a review of WordTabs software. Eldon's verdict: "Another addition to the exclusive 'So Good I Can't Believe It's Free!' club... Despite all its features, WordTabs doesn't look and feel overwhelming. Not one bit; you'll cozy up to this one in no time."

Eldon says his main goal with News, NewsDesk and his CashPlus! program is "actually LEARNING and sharing what I learn and discover" with as many others as possible, "folks who're interested in learning right along with me, and who may value my particular way of looking at things".

Eldon's CashPlus! program pays from 5 to 15 cents per NewsDesk subscriber. Commissions rise as your number of referrals rises.

A bonus: Your visitors never leave your site. The program can be promoted in various ways, including email links, like this one:

[UPDATE: The CashPlus program has ended.]

2. Young Again pays lifetime commissions
========================================

If Ken Evoy's affiliate program - http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/affiliates - has whetted your appetite for lifetime commissions, you may like to take a close look at Young Again Nutrients of Texas.

Young Again sells natural "cutting-edge anti-aging and life extension, weight loss and health treatments". It says its products incorporate "the most effective natural life-extension supplements, herbs, and treatments available".

Young Again pays 20% of the initial sale originating from your link and 10% of all future sales to the same customer. Tracking is done by Yahoo! Store.

John Livingston of Young Again says 80% of customers re-order with an average sale of $63. "A single referral may earn you up to $100 yearly," he says.

==============================
3. Corey's new $75 commissions
==============================

Corey Rudl has a new incentive system. Once you reach 10 sales each month your referral fee increases from $65 to $75 - on ALL sales for that month.

As you probably already know, Corey has the biggest-selling marketing course on the Net. I don't always like everything he does, but Corey certainly knows how to sell - his Internet Marketing Center attracts more than 2 million visitors annually and does $5.2 million (US) in sales online a year.

Corey's extremely comprehensive home-study marketing course reveals unconventional tips, trick and techniques with examples so you can learn efficient, fast ways to make money on the Internet.

Corey's course has been number one on my Top 10 - or close to it - for a long time.

4. Amazon.com tops 300,000 mark
===============================

Amazon.com now has more than 300,000 associates, Stephanie McKnight of Amazon.com told me. But that was last week - I guess it's more now.

=============================
5. Adland adds two-tier bonus
=============================

Adland World's Classifieds has switched to a two-tier reward bonus program which will pay $5 (US) for each 1,000 traffic credits earned and $2 for each 1,000 traffic credits earned by sponsored affiliates.

This bonus is in addition to the 20% to 25% commissions, says Bogdan Fiedur of Adland.

==========================================
6. Free magazine subscription to tempt you
==========================================

Magazine subscription seller i-Subscribe is "no longer in service". A lack of funds has forced a change of direction.

Earned commissions won't be lost. If you join Magazania.com's program it will pay them. Magazania.com sells more than 1,300 titles and pays 15% commission.

Yet another magazine subscription site, the Magazine Processing Center (MPC), is looking for affiliates - and is offering a juicy carrot to tempt you.

Here's the bonus - if you open an MPC magazine store on your site by July 31, 1999, you'll get a free magazine subscription of your choice - valued up to $300.

The MPC's program is operated by the Nexchange network, which says it builds online stores "that will keep your hard-earned visitors right on your website, where they belong".

[UPDATE: Nexchange closed because it was unable to get funding.]

====================================================
7. New network will help you find right products
====================================================

Affinia.com - a new affiliate-marketing network with a few million dollars in funding behind it - aims to help small sites find revenue sharing programs which best suit them.

"The company maintains a database of every item it can find for sale on the web and matches these items to small, topical sites," Jacob Ward writes in The Industry Standard.

"If you have a windsurfing information site, Affinia will set you up with a free storefront that is branded under your name and features various windsurfing-related items: windsurfing books, CDs or apparel. When visitors click on an item, they're carried to the site of a merchant that sells that product. If they buy something, you get a cut, and so does Affinia."

Affinia.com is due to launch this month. The site says: "Coming soon . . ."

[UPDATE: Affinia closed down.]

8. Clickable links in email
============================

I've received conflicting advice on how URLs should be presented in email to make them clickable. Here are three different ways of presenting URLS:

(a) I know if I want to make them clickable for AOL folk I can use a clumsy method like this:
http://makemy.sitesell.com
< A HREF=http://makemy.sitesell.com > AOL folk click here < /A >

(b) In my Eudora Pro software, this is a clickable link:
http://makemy.sitesell.com

(c) However, I've been told that to suit some email software, I need to add chevrons like this:
< http://makemy.sitesell.com >
to make the link clickable.

I've also been told that there is no good reason for adding chevrons. Who's right? Who's wrong? Are you using email software in which (c) is a clickable link but (b) is not? If so, please tell me:

I'll report feedback next week.

of each sale is used to fund research to extend human life
spans. Affiliates earn a 15% commission on the first purchase
made by new customers referred by each affiliate and a 5%
commission on subsequent purchases. Each affiliate will have a

9. B&N offers free music download
=================================

Bookseller Barnes & Noble, which also sells software and magazines, has added an extensive music store to its site. Today it was offering free downloads of a live version of folk singer Jewel's "Deep Water".

=========================================
10. BrainPower pulls plug on NeuroNetwork
=========================================

BrainPower has halted the NeuroNetwork affiliate program. Checks will go out in mid-July - but only to webmasters who have at least $100 owing. This leaves people like Chris Krislyn of http://www.krislyn.com upset: Chris says it's his "first official rip-off by an affiliate program". BrainPower is telling disgruntled webmasters to read the contract.

===================================
11. Sanford Wallace sues Mark Welch
===================================

Sanford "Spamford" Wallace, president of Cyber Promotions, is suing outspoken critic Mark Welch of Adbility.com.

Mark says that defending a lawsuit filed in another state costs tens of thousands of dollars. Mark's defence will be "truth".

Mark's version:
egroups.com/list/wsba-digest/

Sanford Wallace is no stranger to the courtroom. Court cases involving Cyber Promotions:

[UPDATE: Sanford dropped his lawsuit. Mark sold his site.]

12. Most useful monthly report I've seen
========================================

Ken Evoy has just sent out his first monthly report to his affiliates. Of all the revenue sharing programs I've joined since Jim Daniels' in 1997, Ken's monthly report was by far the longest, most helpful, most USEFUL report I've seen from a company. I didn't expect anything less from this innovative guy.

In his report, Ken explains the importance of pre-selling and the dramatic effect it can have on conversion rates. If you're a merchant running a revenue sharing program, imagine how much you could boost your sales if Ken was coaching YOUR team. Remember, his 224-page manual for affiliates is free. All you have to do to get it is join my team.

13. NEXT WEEK: Marketing without banners
========================================

I promised you a report on an interesting site which markets successfully without using banners. Sorry. I'm still chasing the necessary statistics. With any luck, I'll have them next week.

All the best
