Can you drive a car?

If so, do you remember when you were learning how to do it?

If your experience was anything like mine, it was pretty nerve wracking for myself and my future sister-in-law who taught me everything I needed to know.

There were a few tense moments where she risked both her car, and possibly her life, teaching me.

I remember when I accidentally changed down from 4th into 1st and locked up the wheels enough to get out of control.

I was embarrassed and my confidence was shot to pieces for a while. Thankfully she kept her trust in me and encouraged me to keep going and successfully get my license.

It's amazing how even though I didn't think it could happen, it became much easier with practice and wise instruction (thanks GM!).

As my confidence grew and I obtained my license, my opportunities widened dramatically. Suddenly I could go wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted.

I was in control of my own destiny.

I wonder how different my life would be if I decided that learning how to drive was too difficult and gave up. I guess I could have justified it by saying, "Why would I need to drive when I can catch a bus?"

Unfortunately, without a car and a license, your destiny is more in the hands of others than your self.

I reckon that relying just on SEO and Social Media for your traffic is like riding the bus. Sure, it's low risk and the learning curve is short. However, your destiny is not in your own hands.

What you need to do is take control of your destiny and learn the art of buying traffic.

If there is one thing I've learned in the last 10 years of doing business online, if you want to see real growth in your business, you've got to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself to learn new things.

The most important of these is learning how to drive traffic on your own terms and stop being at the mercy of black boxes like SEO.
