1. Ruthless new affiliate book
==============================

My brother is visiting and I want to spend time with him so I'll have to write this quickly...

It's too important for you to miss.

Chris McNeeney, author of the hugely popular "Affiliate Project X, has just launched a new ebook, called the Day Job Killer ... and it's going to be even more controversial than Project X.

Project X set ClickBank records when it launched (selling over 6,000 copies in one week). I reckon Chris's new book will be one of the biggest selling ebooks this year.

Chris was a struggling affiliate not terribly long ago, but he studied ClickBank super affiliates and "reverse engineered" their techniques.

The book is all about using AdWords to promote affiliate products in all sorts of brilliant and sneaky ways. He shows you tricks and shortcuts to maximize your revenue - and how to lure clicks away from your competitors' ads.

You get a video demonstration of one of the techniques. As Chris says, this will help you internalize the technique and replicate it.

Be warned. The book is brutal. Chris himself happily says that is contains "ruthless, underground, and downright evil techniques".

Perhaps that's why he now prefers to be known only by his first name.

Here's an indication of how nasty this book is...

I received an early draft of the book last week. I was so annoyed by one of the techniques Chris describes that I told him I thought it recommended deceptive advertising which would be illegal where I live - and where he lives too.

He didn't reply so I don't know if this technique will be in the final version. Let's hope not.

[UPDATE: Chris took my advice and deleted this section of the book.]

So how much loot is Chris generating from ClickBank? You can see a video he created and watch as he enters several of his ClickBank accounts and reveals astounding figures, like $800 a day, in just one account. The video shows how he's generating cash at a rate of more than $1 million a year, from ClickBank alone.

Could the video be faked? I suppose it would be possible to fake a video of someone going into multiple ClickBank accounts and showing their stats, but I think the video is probably genuine.

In his words..

"These are sneaky, stealthy money-making techniques which the Internet marketing gurus use themselves (behind closed doors) but will NEVER reveal to you..."

Before he launched the book, Chris called for volunteers from affiliates who weren't making money. He wanted to prove that even a newbie could make a living online using these techniques.

"And you know what?" he says. "After just a couple of weeks, all those test subjects started making a substantial income online ... They are all now making enough money to quit their day jobs and make their living from home."

The least successful of the 12 is making $150 a day, he says.

Day Job Killer is less than 100 pages - no fluff - and very easy to read.

One of the techniques described is the Holy Grail of affiliate marketing - using AdWords to send visitors directly to the merchant - no website needed. Chris has put a new twist on the 2004 GoogleCash method to make it work again, potentially with millions of affiliate products.

Experiment with this direct linking technique if you like, but to me it doesn't make sense to try to build your business around it. If you do, you're building the merchant's business instead of your own. I strongly recommend you concentrate on some of the other techniques which build YOUR business.

I think every reader of this book will be wondering how long these new crafty techniques will last. As a result of this book, a hoard of new affiliates will be rushing out to create tough competition for the AdWords super affiliates who have been very quietly getting rich.

The good news is that Chris is promising free lifetime updates with the book, so as the Internet changes, he'll keep you up to date with new techniques and strategies.

If you're even a tiny bit interested in using pay-per-click advertising to generate affiliate commissions, you need this book. If you're already using PPC advertising, you need this book to protect yourself from your new crafty competitors.

This is a bit rushed. I haven't described the "campaign nuking" and "the leveller" sneaky techniques Chris includes in the book. You can read about them here...

I bought the Dayjob Killer a few days after Chris launched it. I was lucky enough to get the Adwords Miracle as a freebie when I bought it from another affiliate. I went throught the Day Job Killer e-book and indeed, it has tons of new ideas about PPC advertising. However, most of his ideas can be found from forums, both free and paid membership sites. Also, if anyone can just read and follow (put into action) Google Adwords' Ad tracking, analytics and tools, then you don't need such expensive ebooks.

1. You need to have a content-rich website or landing page and bid on non-broad keywords, i.e. "shakira ring tones" or [shakira ring tones], that is relevant to the landing page. Your CPC will be much lower this way. Use the Keyword Tool to generate site-related keywords. Point it to your site or landing page.

2. Switch on the Quality Score column of your keyword list to know why your minimum bid goes high.

3. To achieve a higher conversion rate, pick an affiliate program that is popular. Use Alexa to verify its traffic/popularity.

4. Switch off 'Content Network' to avoid click fraud. Select UK/US/CA only if you are promoting to those markets. Unless, of course, you want to sell insurance to China.

5. Your Ad should be compelling and must state the benefits from buying the product. Include the price tag - this means anyone who clicks on it is in the state of mind of buying something.

I have been bidding on [harry potter] and I have used Amazon's Harry Potter store as my landing page. For three weeks in a row, my CPC is $0.03 and I have 21 pre-orders of Harry Potter 7! The rest are Harry Potter merchandise orders.

Hope this helps.

[Thanks for the useful tips. Much appreciated. When I started online, I wasted an enormous amount of time searching for free information. I eventually figured out it was much more cost-effictive to buy good instruction manuals which saved me a lot of time. Allan.]
