The setback for most webmasters when it comes to generating backlinks is the time comsumption. Fortunately the internet is constantly evolving and there new methods that can make the process of building backlinks a rather simple task.

Generating backlinks to your website can be the difference between your website ranking in page 1 or page 10 of the search engines.

With so many affiliate marketing websites on the Internet, there has to be a way to differentiate yourself from the competition. Building high quality relevant backlinks will give your website an appearance of being an authority in any niche of your choice. The question that remains to be answered is: How does one create quality backlinks to their affiliate website? Fortunately for you, today I will reveal several great ways to build quality backlinks to any site of your choice.

Building backlinks the old fashioned way involved soliciting other high ranking websites for reciprocal backlinks. A reciprocal backlink is when one website owner agrees to place your link on their site in return for you placing their link on yours. That  strategy is still effective, but it can be time consuming. Another setback to soliciting reciprocal backlinks is the high probability of rejection due to your lower ranking website. If you decide you still want to pursue this method, you can do so by sending the webmaster an email asking for a reciprocal link and wait patiently.

Patience is a virtue, but to be successful in any business venture, you must be willing to grow at the speed of business. In today's times the methods of building backlinks, if you are privileged enough to have the knowledge, are much faster and efficient. I have compiled several methods of establishing backlinks to your website that are either free or are minute in cost and don’t rely on any time consuming solicitation.

The first method is the use of RSS feeds on your website. There are many RSS feed directories that you can submit your RSS feeds to. Submitting your websites to these directories has more the one advantage. You will generate backlinks when your feed is downloaded and also generate traffic to your website from the added exposure.

Another free method for generating free backlinks are reciprocal link exchange directories. These directories are basically website owners who are also looking to exchange links. The benefits of using directories are obvious - instead of searching for reciprocal links, you will have the opportunity to choose from any of the many website owners in your niche market to exchange links with. You will also get random links exchange offers from other webmasters which you can accept or deny.

Article marketing has been a reliable way to create free backlinks for years. The process although effective can take some time for your articles to get circulated or picked by other websites owners. To speed up the process  a little,  I have starting using article submission services like Isnare and Article Submission Service. These services automatically submits your articles to hundreds of other directories for a small fee.

The Free Traffic System is another free method of generating backlinks. Free Traffic System is a viral link building system that circulates your anchored text backlinks in several niche blogs instead of article directories. For every article you submit to the system, you receive 60 backlinks to your website. You can also receive backlinks virally by referring other members or submitting your own blogs. [Editor's note: I haven't tried this service.]

Lastly, one of my favorite methods of generating backlinks is by using social bookmarking websites. Social bookmarking sites are extremely popular because of their high PageRanks, their viral capabilities, and their wealth of information. There are hundreds of high PageRank social networks that you can post to on a daily basis. To lessen the chore of posting to all these sites manually, I use a social bookmarking software that can post to multiple sites with a few simple clicks.
