1. Tapping into other people's traffic - Part 5
===============================================
(This "tapping into traffic" series began in newsletter #306 -
http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/categories/Newsletter-Archive/2006-Newsletters/ )
A number of readers have written to say they've found the tips in the "Tapping into traffic" series useful.
We don't have time to generate every visitor ourselves. It makes much more sense to look for existing streams of traffic and find ways to tap into that traffic.
Here's how one affiliate is doing it.
Elliot Hanson writes:
Thank you for writing this helpful series of how to tap into other people's traffic. It inspired me to put some of the methods given in your newsletter to use for my own business.
I'm tapping into other people's traffic in a number of ways:
First, I'm tapping into the traffic at an online forum about city simulations and recreations. I started a topic in which I update members on my 3D recreation of Manhattan (3D modeling is a hobby of mine when I want to relax from the sometimes stressful world of Internet marketing). I have a link to the website in my signature and on the site there are more pictures and information if people want to learn more about the recreation. At the top of the page I have placed AdSense, which is monetizing the traffic.
In addition, readers are subscribing to the topic and receive email updates alerting them I have updated the topic. Each update draws more people and thus more visitors are filtered through to the website.
Another way I am using other people's traffic is by asking webmasters if they will help me sell an ebook on article marketing in return for half the profits.
I search for relevant keywords pertaining to the content of the ebook and send inquiries to the owners of the top ranking sites.
I was a bit anxious about the whole process because this is the first time I've done something like this. Nonetheless on Tuesday night I worked up the courage and sent five inquiries off. The next morning one webmaster emailed me back agreeing to help me sell the ebook... If you're wondering what the title is you can find it here:

In the future, I plan on selling reports at the Warrior Forum's Special Offers sub-forum. Many marketers make thousands just selling reports and articles there.
Thanks again for putting together this series and giving me some very elpful ideas. No internet marketer is an island and each can leverage each other's efforts when they work together.
Sincerely,
Elliot Hanson

2. The Squeeze Page Myth
========================
Did you marvel over the immense success of the StomperNet launch by Brad Fallon and Andy Jenkins? As you probably know, it was a high-priced mammoth success.
I've just been reading about a very important factor in their success.
In the October edition of the Reese Report, John Reese reveals the inside story of the launch.
He tells how, when Brad and Andy were planning the launch, they came to John's house and they all brainstormed the launch strategy. John persuaded them to think outside the box and ignore the advice of some of their friends.
In his newsletter, John reveals "The Squeeze Page Myth" and describes in careful detail a much more effective email capture technique which he persuaded Brad and Andy to use for their big launch.
The results were staggering.
"We may have brought in three to four times the number of sales than we would have, had we used the regular name squeeze technique," John says.
The Reese Report is for members only, so unfortunately I can't reveal the details.
The Reese Report is one of the few newsletters I'm willing to pay for because of inside knowledge like this that John shares.
When you subscribe, make sure you look for the October 2006 edition which reports on "The Squeeze Page Myth".
Because the new technique John describes was so brilliantly successful, this report will change the way a LOT of marketers collect email addresses.
What's really important here is that while Brad and Andy used the new technique to promote an Internet marketing product, the technique should work beautifully in all sorts of other niches, too.
As usual, John covers a lot of ground. Topics in this issue include 31 sources for outsourcing content, an audio interview recording trick, tracking message boards, virtual real estate empire tips, infoproduct ideas and pages of answers to readers' questions.

[UPDATE: John has announced the end of the Reese Report. He's concentrating on a bigger project.]

3. Strange AdSense CTR problem
==============================
Here's a puzzle a reader asked me about.
He owns two very similar sites. The click-through rates on the AdSense ads on one of them has suffered a dramatic drop from good double-digit figures to low single-digit figures.
He's wondering if something he's been doing has caused this disaster.
Here's the strange tale...
http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/discus/ftopic21529.html
Can you help him solve this puzzle?

4. Coming soon... More ways to tap into other traffic
=====================================================
In the next newsletter I'll describe more ways of tapping into other people's traffic, and using that traffic to sell a niche product.
It's much easier than creating all the traffic yourself.

5. Thought for today: So what?
==============================
"Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what? Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful." - Mark Victor Hansen
