1. Tapping into other traffic - Part 4
...by racing to new blog posts
======================================
(This "tapping into traffic" series began in newsletter #306 - http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/categories/Newsletter-Archive/2006-Newsletters/ )
Brian T. Edmondson of List Profit Academy says he taps into other people's traffic by commenting on their blog posts.
There's nothing unusual in that - except that Brian does it really fast.
"Whenever I get an email that someone has updated their blog with a post, I go immediately to the site and leave a comment, including my URL of course.
"This helps the blog owner build good content (assuming your comments are useful) while I can get my URL in front of all the traffic that views the blog.
"The key to this is speed... as soon as the blog is updated, get your comment on there to maximize the number of eyeballs that see your comment," Brian says.
I'm sure another key to this is commenting in a way which teases the reader. You need to make the reader curious about your site.
In Brian's case, using the words "free", "list" and "profit" would help a lot.
He's offering a free List Profit Training Series, with the assistance of some guys who, like Brian, are experts at generating list profits.

2. You can tap into other traffic
...by forming strategic partnerships
=======================================
Continuing the "tapping into traffic" theme, this time in the dating and relationships field...
Jane Saeman has found a way to tap into another entrepreneur's traffic.
"I have teamed up with an Internet marketer to build a membership site for me and he is going to promote my new site to his list and on his website," Jane says.
It makes a lot of sense. By combining their skills they build something which neither could do easily by single-handed.
If you're interested in the huge dating and relationships niches and need a help with content, you'll like what Jane is doing...

I'll continue this "tapping into other people's traffic" series if you keep sending me good examples, because I reckon it's really important.

4. At last - you can advertise on AssociatePrograms.com
=======================================================
For several years I've been declining requests from affiliates and affiliate merchants who wanted to advertise on AssociatePrograms.com.
To put it bluntly, I'd decided it was too fiddly.
However, now we've grown and I have staff who can handle this stuff - and more sophisticated software - so we're providing four ad spots on AssociatePrograms.com.
You can use them to recruit affiliates, promote your products and increase your brand awareness.
You can rotate different ads. That's no problem.
Here's the deal...
As a special introductory offer, you can book your advertising at ONE-THIRD OFF the prices in our new advertising media kit.
Book for three months, six months, a year, whatever. No matter how long you book and pay for, you'll get the one-third discount.
There are only four spots, so I expect them to go very quickly.
Get the advertising media kit here...
http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/pages/Advertising-opportunities
P.S. In case you're thinking of getting the media kit just to find out how much traffic we get, our server logs tell us we had 382,107 visits to our site in October. We expect even more in the coming months.

5. Affiliate links banned on MySpace
====================================
If you're marketing on MySpace, or intend to, please make sure to read the MySpace rules. If you haven't, you'll probably be surprised.
Until this week, I hadn't read the rules because marketing on MySpace had always been one of those things I was going to try "one day".
Here's the crunch. MySpace says "commercial endeavors" are not allowed. Affiliate links are not allowed.
Here's what the rules, updated on October 25, say:
"Non-commercial Use by Members. The MySpace Services are for the personal use of Members only and may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by MySpace.com. Illegal and/or unauthorized use of the MySpace Services, including collecting usernames and/or email addresses of Members by electronic or other means for the purpose of sending unsolicited email or unauthorized framing of or linking to the MySpace Website is prohibited. Commercial advertisements, affiliate links, and other forms of solicitation may be removed from Member profiles without notice and may result in termination of Membership privileges. Appropriate legal action will be taken for any illegal or unauthorized use of the MySpace Services."
You can read the rest of the rules here...
http://www.myspace.com/Modules/Common/Pages/TermsConditions.aspx
So if you're going to do anything on MySpace, you'll need to be VERY subtle. Otherwise, you risk losing your MySpace account.
However, it's not only the MySpace rules you have to watch out for - it's affiliate network rules, too.
At least one affiliate network has recently changed its rules.
Steven Sauve of MaxBounty told affiliates this week that MaxBounty has changed its affiliate terms "to prohibit advertising of any type" through MySpace accounts.
MySpace was in talks with MaxBounty before this decision, so don't be surprised if MySpace is putting pressure on other affiliate networks, too.

6. Thought for today: What you believe
======================================
"One comes to believe whatever one repeats to oneself sufficiently often, whether the statement be true of false. It comes to be dominating thought in one's mind." - Robert Collier.
All the best
