Associate Programs Newsletter #306

I love anything to do with leverage - using other people's time and energy instead of my own - to get me where I want to go.

So I was fascinated to see how one smart affiliate is tapping into someone else's traffic.

1. Tapping into other people's traffic
======================================

One way to apply powerful leverage in marketing online is to tap into other people's traffic.

Andre Chaperon did it the other day, rather cleverly, I thought.

Here's how he did it.

First, he got hold of the new Project X report, which I reviewed recently. It describes several innovative techniques super affiliates use.

Andre studied the report and wrote a summary of it in a "mind map" format designed to be printed and stuck on your wall so that you can see all the details of each affiliate technique.

He used it as a bonus to increase his sales of Project X. Anyone who bought Project X through Andre's affiliate link was given a download link to the mind map.

(The usual way this is done is to ask purchasers to email their receipt to you as proof of purchase.)

It's a good bonus because it's highly relevant. It actually improves the original product. It stops readers from becoming overwhelmed by all the tips in Project X.

Here's the unusual bit...

Chris McNeeney, the author of Project X, liked the mind map and arranged to give it to ALL purchasers of Project X.

To do this, he sent them to Andre's download page, where they had to hand over an email address before they could get the mind map.

Andre has a good reason to collect these email addresses. Chris is planning to produce free updates to Project X, and Andre says he needs those email addresses so he can tell people when he has updated the mind map.

This is all pretty clever.

You may remember that buyers of Project X have a strong incentive to stay subscribed to Chris's list, because they want to know when he produces updates to Project X.

And now they have an incentive to stay subscribed to Andre's list because he's going to produce updates, too.

Andre gets access not just to people who bought through his link, but also to a whole bunch of other purchasers, too.

Just guessing... perhaps we'll see a series of updates. That would encourage people to stay subscribed to BOTH lists.

You can get Project X here and learn more creative affiliate techniques...

I bought it - and I'm looking forward to those updates.

2. Are YOU tapping into other people's traffic?
===============================================

Are you tapping into someone else's traffic in an interesting way? You could be using email lists or website traffic.

If so, I'd love to know the details. Perhaps what you're doing would make an item for the next newsletter?

Tell me how you're tapping into other traffic:

3. Do you over-complicate things?
=================================

Do you have a tendency to over-complicate things? Do you analyze things to death without actually taking action?

If, so, then I have just the course for you.

It's by Lisa Diane, who's made a fortune in direct marketing, and has recently begun applying her methods online - and successfully, too. (She figured prominently in Joel Comm's recent Top 40 list of affiliates.)

The very successful Willie Crawford has put his highly respected name to Lisa's course. He's the affiliate manager.

The course describes what Lisa calls the 6M Profit Method, a 6-step formula she has used over the past 13 years to build 3 multi-million-dollar businesses from scratch and launch products across many different markets, generating 6 and 7 figure returns.

Her deceptively simple course, which can be used to promote affiliate products or to develop your own product, gives you six steps to follow. There's a workbook, a motivational book, audio CDs, and a neat summary to make sure you don't miss out anything important.

If you've been marketing online for a while, you'll find much of this course very basic. Lisa doesn't assume you know anything. There's even a section which explains how links work in emails.

The first step in the course, which Lisa says is the most important one, is something you've probably heard many times before - and many of us probably ignore it most of the time.

Lisa consults with business owners at rates of $20K a month plus revenue share so, as you can imagine, this course isn't cheap.

Remember, it's deceptively simple, and if you're an experienced marketer, you'll probably already know almost everything in it.

For beginners, and for people who over-complicate things and suffer paralysis by analysis, it provides a simple, six-step course of action, one you can picture yourself doing. It also adds large dollops of motivation.

Because it's so simple I think this course will succeed where many more complicated courses fail.

4. How to fix your AdWords quality score
========================================

Lisa Diane's just launched 6M Profit Method was obviously written before Google changed its AdWords Quality Score.

As I've already discussed in an earlier newsletter, if you want to avoid paying $5 or $10 per click at AdWords, you have to do things Google's way and boost the Quality Score of your landing page.

Here's some info on how to do this:

[UPDATE: Super affiliate Jeremy Palmer has published a free Unofficial Guide to Google's Quality Score. It's a plain language, 10-page PDF file. As anyone who does pay-per-click marketing on AdWords knows, to keep your PPC costs down, you must get Google's tick of approval - a good Quality Score. This is the most thorough guide I've seen yet on the topic - essential reading for anyone who does PPC marketing.]

5. Thought for today: Your future
=================================

"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created - created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination."
- Deborah James, Business Consultant.
