PLR articles, or private label rights articles, are a good way to add useful, interesting, search engine friendly content to your website.

If you're building a string of websites, or a large site, writing a blog or distributing articles to article libraries, you need a lot of articles.

It's time-consuming and tedious trying to research and write all those articles yourself.

You can hire writers at places such as elance and RentaCoder, but if you've tried that, you'll know it can be done but it's not as easy as it sounds.

So you need a workable shortcut.

To help website owners in this dilemma, several websites provide well researched, solidly written private label rights articles.

These membership sites enable you to get hundreds of PLR articles for as little as 15 cents or 20 cents each.

They're a fantastic bargain. I belong to several PLR article sites.

You don't want to use articles that thousands upon thousands of other sites are using, so membership to these PLR article sites is usually strictly limited.


Rewrite for best long-term results

If you join some of these membership sites, I strongly recommend that you do at least a little rewriting.

You'll want to tweak and optimize the articles to help search engines find them. Often the articles have not been written with any particular keyword density in mind.

This is a good thing. It's means your articles will be unique. You can also add your own tone and personality.

Some webmasters in a hurry take a minimalist approach, leaving the article untouched but write a brief introduction and then add a brief comment at the end.

Others use RSS feeds to add content to the pages.

The more original and unique your approach, the more likely you are to have good long-erm results.

Some rewrite up to 60% of the articles and others play it safe, merely using the articles for inspiration and totally rewriting them.

Whatever system you use, it's much easier improving a ready made article than writing a brand new one entirely from scratch.

Real estate investor Lindsey Rae offers 50 real estate articles a month at a surprisingly reasonable price. The sale of each package is limited to 300 people. The articles, written by Lindsey and a team of writers, are sprinkled with well researched keywords. Lindsey tells you how often a certain key phrase appears in each article. You'll probably want to jazz up the articles, adding a little personality. There are lots of valuable keywords in this niche.

Daniel Turner and Marc Lindsay provide a whopping 440 niche articles a month (in each group), so you receive a fantastic supply of articles for your website or blog or autoresponder or whatever. Membership in each group is limited to only 200 people, so competition is strictly limited. These guys are professionals, providing a very good service, including a helpful forum. Bobbie McKee provides both PLR articles and PLR ebooks. Each month, you get 400 fresh articles spread across 16 hand-picked niches. As well, you get access to a heap of ebooks and software with full master resell rights. There's a strict limit of 350 people per article set. As you'd expect with PLR sites, the quality of the writing varies in different niches. Most of the articles I examined looked good. This offer is good value.

Dave Markel offers packages of good quality niche content articles at a bargain price. You pay only 75 cents per article. The sale of each package is limited to 300 people. Dave shows you samples of the articles. (He used to have a membership site and switched to providing packages of articles.) This is excellent value.

Kim Standerline covers in-demand health niches. Each month, she provides two complete health niche products written by a registered nurse, 25 private label articles, keywords research for each niche, a private forum, bonuses, and all sorts of useful assistance. Bryan Winters provides a huge article database. Members get unlimited access to over 40 niche categories and hundreds of topics. You also have access to niche content article packs and private label products with the sales letters already written for you. You can post "articles wanted" requests. You can get paid for writing articles. There is no restriction on membership numbers. The membership fee is modest.

Joel Osborne provides 150 new private label articles every month. The articles have never been used before. Membership is limited to 250 people. UPDATE: CLOSED.

Constant Content. Prices I saw varied. Some are free. Some cost from $5 to $20 an article. If you spend more and buy unique rights, the article is removed from the database. A counter shows you how many times the articles has been downloaded. New articles are added frequently. If you can't find what you're looking for, you can submit a request (2500+ writers waiting).

When you join any of these PLR article sites, be sure to read the terms carefully. They vary slightly from site to site.

How to avoid duplicate content filters

Search engines inevitably are getting tougher and tougher on duplicate content. If you ignore this fact, you risk seeing a whole lot of your work go down the drain.
