Where to find an affiliate mentor

By Allan Gardyne | Published  07/6/2005 | Getting started |

Your adviser, coach, role model and friend

An affiliate mentor does more than provide you with an affiliate manual to read.

Affiliate mentoring involves personal, one-to-one teaching.

It involves being taught how to build an Internet business.

The right mentor can be your adviser, coach, role model and probably your friend.

Expert affiliate mentoring can mean the difference between success and failure for an affiliate.

While a small proportion of affiliates do exceptionally well - for example, I've been earning a good living from affiliate commissions since 1998 - many affiliates struggle to earn much more than pocket money.

Excellent instruction manuals are available for affiliates, such as Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook and the comprehensive Action Guide that comes with Ken Evoy's Site Build It!

For some affiliates, either of those top-notch guides is all they need. They follow the step-by-step instructions and in six months or so they're earning hundreds or perhaps even thousands of dollars a month.

If you already own one of those affiliate guides, what you need to do is this: Dig it out, print it, study it carefully chapter by chapter with a highlighter pen in hand, making notes as you go.

Each night, make a list of the six most important things you need to do. Next day, do those six things. Every day, ALWAYS do something to improve your business. Watch carefully to see what works. Repeat those things. Carry on until you're successful.

If you do this, you'll have a good chance of succeeding without hiring an affiliate coach.

If you do need an affiliate mentor, read on...

Why do you not have an "ABOUT US" information on your home page?

[We have a link to our "About Us" page in the left-hand column on each page page. It's under the heading "Site Menu". Allan.]

I found this to be a great article. I currently offer Free Mentoring to affiliates who sign up under me on the programs I promote. Reading this article gave me some new ideas to improve on my mentoring and more ways to help those who I mentor. Thanks.

I have written what I think is a "best seller" e-book and would like to market it via Affiliates. It is about my experiences with Internet Dating. If I mention a Dating Website in my e-book, can I get some money from that site if I drive traffic to them? If so, and this is what I don't get, how does the dating website know that the traffic was generated by me and importantly, you another Affiliate sold my e-book ang generated traffic to the dating site how would the dating site pay me?
Thanks

[When you join an affiliate program, you're given a unique affiliate link to use in your marketing. You can use that affiliate link in an ebook your write. When someone clicks on the affiliate link and buys something, the merchant tracks the click and you earn a commission. Commissions are usually paid either by check or via PayPal, and sometimes by wire transfer. If you want affiliates to promote your book, one simple way to do this is to join ClickBank for about $50 and ClickBank will give each affiliate a unique link to use when promoting your book. ClickBank will also pay your affiliates their commissions. Our affiliate forum is a good place to ask questions like this. It has lots of friendly, helpful members. Allan.]

Would you recommend WealthyAffiliate.com ? I have heard that it provides coaching too.

[It's a good source of information on PPC advertising. Allan.]

This article is great. I found out that you have to have constant contact to your affiliates to keep them motivated, and if they have questions then they are most likely want to promote the product.

Hi. Got:
* Am an expert in the career/jobs field
* 10 000 mailing list (all opt in)
* Bunch of viral reports out there, very popular
* Often get published in the media (newspapers)
* Have written 3 100 page guides, good topics
But:
* Am not selling anything but my time (hard work, and I can't do more than I'm doing)
* Am feeling frazzled, overworked and too busy to even think or figure out the best way to capitalise on what I've built.
So:
* Is there anyone out there to help me put it all together?

Just chanced upon this site - maybe the right person chance upon my comment.

[Gerard, Keep exploring this website. There's a wealth of knowledge here to help you. Take a break, analyze your strengths and interests and design a business around them. Allan.]

I clicked on the link about Ewen Chia's Cd for only a dollar and came up with an error message.

[Thanks for the alert. That offer has ended. I've deleted that paragraph. Allan.]

[Thanks for the offer, but in the past I nearly killed myself trying to help everyone who wanted me to be their mentor. There just aren't enough hours in the day.
I've provided heaps of free information on this site. Click on the "Beginners" link at the top left of this page, and also ask questions on our affiliate forum. The forum has many friendly, helpful people. Read, then ask questions. Learn something new every day. Allan.]

I have a very good feeling this site would do me good in the future. I am just a fourteen-year-old who wants to earn money to support my family. Thanks a lot for creating this site. It would prove useful to me, just as my father said. But is it possible for a teen like me to do this kind of thing?

[Yes, of course it is. What matters most are skills and determination, not age. Allan.]
